🌲 Watering New Evergreen Trees After Planting (Colorado Climate)

Day of Planting
- Water using a slow trickle hose for 1.5 to 2 hours
Day After Planting
- Water again using a slow trickle for 1.5 to 2 hours
- This helps:
- Eliminate air pockets
- Fully saturate the root ball
- Allow the tree to properly settle
Third Day After Planting
- Begin regular watering schedule based on tree type and size
💧 Why Slow Trickle Watering Matters
A slow trickle ensures water reaches the deep root system, not just the surface. This is critical for strong root establishment in Colorado’s dry climate.
📅 Tree Watering Schedule (Colorado)
❄️ Winter (December – February)
- Water manually with a hose
- Only water when temperatures are above freezing
🌱 Early Spring (March – April)
- Water 3 times per week
☀️ Summer (May – September) (inferred best practice for usability)
- Water 2–4 times per week depending on heat
- Increase frequency during:
- High temperatures
- Dry/windy conditions
🍂 Fall (October – November)
- Gradually reduce watering to 1–2 times per week
- Continue watering until ground begins to freeze

⚠️ Important Notes
💧 Tree Care Guidelines (Important)
🚫 Do Not Skip Watering Days
- Water consistently—every scheduled day matters
- Rain (light or heavy) does NOT count as watering
- Sprinkler overspray does NOT count as watering
👉 Trees require deep, intentional watering at the root ball
🌬️ Colorado Climate Note
Due to low humidity, wind, and high elevation, it is very difficult to overwater trees in Colorado.
Consistent watering is critical for survival.
🌱 Approved Fertilizer Only
- Use Rev Turf Pro Formula ONLY
- Do not use any other fertilizers
⚠️ Important:
Front Range Landscape & Nursery will not warranty trees if any fertilizer other than Rev Turf Pro is used.
⚠️ Signs of Underwatering
Watch for these warning signs:
- Tree appears droopy
- Browning or decline starting from the bottom up
👉 These are strong indicators the tree is not getting enough water
✅ Pro Tip
When in doubt, water more consistently—not less. Proper watering is the #1 factor in tree survival after planting.
